Good News

Standard

Have you ever gotten excited about the little note inside your fortune cookie? I grew up thinking that lightning would strike me if I dared to open a fortune cookie.

People get so excited about what their fortune cookie says! Even if it says “You are going to have some new clothes.” or “The fortune you seek is in another cookie.” HA!

The funny thing is, there have been millions of the same “fortune” printed. They are really so random and definitely not unique!

My Pastor said something that really made me think…

“People are so hungry for someone to give them good news.” Isn’t this so true?!?!

Speaking of news, wouldn’t it be amazing if the Five O’clock news only shared GOOD news? 🙂 We would live in a whole different world!

I am so thankful that God’s Word is THE good news. It’s not an accident that the word “Gospel” (God’s Word) means “good news”.

The Bible is full of good news that truly applies to you and me! For example, I consistently tell my daughter that in Hebrews 13:5, Jesus says He will never leave or forsake her!

That verse is just one of many examples of God’s goodness and faithfulness!

I encourage you to dig into God’s Word and find those “good news” verses to stand on!

EnJOY your day! Thanks for reading!

Finding Joy In The JOurneY

Standard

Today I was thinking about how important it is to see the joy in my journey in life. Do you see the “joy” in “journey”? 🙂

No doubt that we have all dealt with mishaps and unfair circumstances but we can still find joy!

Playing hide and seek with a toddler is a great example of finding joy during the journey. It’s funny how kids hide in obvious spots. For some reason, they think you can’t see them if they cover their eyes!

Joy is right there, in an obvious spot, but we have to choose to look for it!  🙂

Let me tell you, I have had one of those weeks where I had to focus on finding joy in my situations! For example, my little one ended up with a temperature of 105 and experienced a high fever for 5 days!

Guess what? I found joy! I’m not saying I found joy in the fact that my daughter had a high fever.

I found joy because my daughter is alive and well. God isn’t looking for us to be joyful for the bad stuff that happens to us; He wants us to find joy in the midst of our circumstances.

There has to be something good happening in your life! Right? That’s finding the joy!

Hebrews 12:2 “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Jesus found joy in His journey of the cross. He experienced more than we could imagine.

He did it because He saw the joy (you and me) in the journey!

Each day, I encourage you (and myself) to continue to look for the joy. It’s that companion that we can’t live without!

I hope you were encouraged today! Enjoy the journey!

Make Your Tomorrow Today!

Standard

Tis the season for potty training (at least in my mind). My daughter recently turned 2 and I’m thinking it’s time for the big PT! I keep asking her “when are you going to wear your big girl undies” and (without hesitation) she says “Tomorrow”.

Tomorrow can sometimes carry a lot of unfulfilled promises.

Procrastination and Tomorrow are getting married (one of these days). Ha!

There are things in life that look absolutely impossible with our natural eye.

The verse that comes to mind is Matthew 19:26 – (Jesus said to them) “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Earlier in chapter 19 Jesus talks to the Rich Young Ruler. Jesus gives him specific instructions and the Rich Young Ruler chose to remain in his “comfortable” lifestyle.

He wasn’t willing to take the next step. Sometimes we allow our “possessions” (or those things that own us) keep us from accomplishing God’s perfect will for our lives.

Good Intentions don’t carry much value, they can actually cost us something — an unfulfilled destiny.

This chapter has been encouraging me over the last week, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you.

I’m totally talking to myself when I say this – TODAY IS THE DAY that the Lord has made. What better day to get things done…on the day that the Lord has made!

I wrote this post earlier this week but have just been thinking about it. I was so encouraged today when Pastor Pierre used Luke 1:37 (“For with God nothing will be impossible.”) in his sermon.

God is so good at confirming things!

In this New Year we have the opportunity to do it TODAY rather than waiting until tomorrow.

I pray you have a prosperous New Year (Physically, Spiritually, Financially and Emotionally)!

Thanks for reading! EnJOY 2012!
