Green Pepper, Tomato, Girl or Boy?

Standard
Green Pepper, Tomato, Girl or Boy?

It never ceases to amaze me…the thought process of a child. I was cutting a green pepper and when I started to cut out the seeds, I noticed another tiny pepper inside. The green pepper had a baby inside.

I gently removed the baby pepper and showed it to my daughter. She was beyond thrilled that the pepper had a baby. She had endless questions as to why, how…

I started slicing a juicy tomato. My daughter watched closely as I sliced. She then chimes “Is there a baby in the tomato?” I reply “No honey”.

Her response: “It must be a boy!”

It’s all about perspective.

I don’t know about you, but I could certainly benefit from seeing another perspective…other than my own.

As I was reading Proverbs this morning, I took a moment to dissect a verse.

Proverbs 5:21 says “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He ponders all his paths.” (NKJV)

When I have read this verse before, I never noticed that “He” was capitalized. Here are the things that stood out to me as I studied this verse.

According to the Blue Letter Bible (online study tool) which gives the Hebrew and Greek definition for the words.

Way = “way, road, distance, journey, manner”

Before = “be in front of”,

Ponders =”to weigh, make level, balance”

Paths = “entrenchment, track” *entrenchment is a ditch of protection

I am not a Greek scholar but from reading and studying this verse…

My journey is in front of God and He is leveling my path.

I encourage you today…God sees you, your life…it’s in front of Him. He will level and balance your path if you allow Him to.

Thanks for reading! EnJOY your day!

PerSPECtive

Standard

I have unfortunately run into walls, furniture and other stationary objects. Yep, that’s right, I’ve run into objects that don’t move!

Don’t judge me. 🙂

I wouldn’t define myself as a klutz or a disaster waiting to happen. I just need my “specs” if I’m going to accomplish anything, especially if it’s in the dark.

Many of us at some point in our lives need a new perspective. A new outlook — we just need to look out of the box.

Some of us get stuck day after day looking at the same walls. The same situations. Blah. Blah. Blah.

I see things so much differently when I’m not wearing my contact lenses or glasses. Things appear dull, blurry, fuzzy or non-existent (hence walking into furniture).

Need a glimpse of hope? Put some specs on or get a new prescription. 🙂

It’s like the girl who put on someone elses glasses and thought she was petting a cat when in reality she was petting a sewer rat.

When I think of perspective, I can’t help but think about the story of the paralytic that is mentioned in Mark 2:1-5.

“And again He (Jesus) entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house.  2 Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. 3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. 4 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven you.’”

This man and his friends changed their position and their perspective.

They had a SPECtacular view! 🙂

If you are feeling dull, hopeless, helpless, you name it — try changing your view.

I hope you were encouraged! Thanks for reading!

Joyfully His!

Directionally Challenged

Standard

“A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.” Proverbs 16:9

I am so thankful for my TomTom (GPS)! How did they do it back then? With horses and buggies? God obviously knew that I needed to be living during the time of the GREAT GPS!

I am one of those people who can be directionally challenged at times. I’m working on it though. I haven’t driven the wrong way down any one way streets lately. 🙂 A word to the wise – you should probably ask someone else for directions. 🙂

Actually, as much as I love my TomTom, it has led me astray. One time (while following Mr. TomTom) I almost went off of a bridge that was shut down! Yea, that was a bit scary. I was wondering why people kept looking at me as I was accelerating towards a bridge that was closed down (to make a long story short I was headed for a large Bay).

All I know is that I want God directing me! I’ve lost count of how many times I have gotten lost. Really, when you think about it, we’re all directionally challenged until we find God. We’re completely LOST!

This is a verse that I try to pray over myself (and family) on a consistent basis. I just simply ask God to direct my (our) steps. You know, there might be someone in my path who needs to hear an encouraging word; or God may lead me to drive a different route than usual. Ever been there?

I pray that God would direct your steps today! EnJOY your day and thanks for reading!
