Hope…things can only go up from here

I was thinking of the word hope and couldn’t help but picture a balloon floating in the air. Have you ever been holding a balloon by a string and then let it go? Once the balloon is released, it goes higher and higher.

How about an ice-cube in a glass of water? It gets dropped in and then pushes its way to the top.

It can’t help it.

Call it gravity or whatever, it still can’t help it. 🙂

Hope means expectation. Psalm 62:5 says “My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.”

What an incredible verse! I can’t think of a better “Person” to get my hope from. In this verse, the Hebrew definition for expectation is “cord”.

In my mind, I picture the string to the balloon as the “cord”, or expectation.  It’s tied to the balloon. I think you see where I’m going with this.

As we tie our string to the balloon and let it go, the sky is literally the limit. I do realize balloons can only go so high, but just imagine with me here, and turn off your brain. 🙂

As we tie our expectation to God, we are destined to go places. Be something. Do something.

This verse is a great encouragement and reminder to us. You may have set some goals to achieve in this new year. Fantastic! Expect great things as you connect yourself to God and allow Him to guide you.

As you drink your glass of water with ice, be reminded of hope!

Joyfully His! Thanks for reading! I hope you were encouraged! 🙂
